About the Job
As Systel continues to grow, the company is taking on projects with more and more rigorous customer requirements. Systel needs to hire a compliance specialist to play a critical role in driving growth by enhancing Systel’s capability to consistently meet customer requirements such as purchase order terms and conditions, FAR/DFAR requirements, product specifications, and customer specific requirements. This position will work closely with many other departments including quality, sales, engineering, purchasing, and finance. We are looking for someone with both the ability to understand the big business picture and to pay close attention to details.

This role will report to the Quality Manager at Systel. This position is full-time onsite (in-person) at our headquarters in Sugar Land, TX.

In this role, you’ll be at the center of collaboration—partnering with Quality, Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Finance to create seamless processes and exceptional customer experiences. Your expertise will help us raise the bar and keep Systel ahead in a competitive market

Responsibilities
  • Take the lead in responding to customer request for compliance documentation, including updating compliance documentation on customer websites, such as conflict mineral documentation
  • Play a lead role in hosting customers during on-site customer audits and providing objective evidence to demonstrate compliance to customer requirements
  • Play a critical support role in hosting AS9100 auditors and providing objective evidence to demonstrate compliance to AS9100 standards
  • Manage FAR/DFAR compliance matrix, adding new government regulations and maintaining how Systel is compliant to them
  • Review terms and conditions on new customer purchase orders and flag areas of concern for management to review
  • Work with management to develop methods of meeting new requirements and regulations
  • When needed, create and manage requests to engineering for them to verify design specific requirements such as RoHS and REACH.
  • Prepare source inspection documentation prior to source inspectors coming on-site
  • Prepare AS9102 first article documentation for new products that require it
  • Play a key role in our internal audit process, including performing internal audits as necessary (as determined by the quality manager)
Education and Experience
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Legal, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in contract review, legal work, or product inspection

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with quality management systems, such as ISO 9001 and AS9100.
  • 5+ years of quality compliance experience
Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and drive for continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; capable of building strong internal and external relationships.
  • Highly competitive and self-motivated with the ability to “make it happen”.
  • Time management, decision-making, and organizational skills capable of handling a demanding workload yet meeting positional and company objectives under pressure.
